Daniel Davis


Originally from San Jose, California, Dan Davis began playing the tuba at the age of 11. In 7th grade, he started his studies with Tony Clements, princpal tuba of Symphony Silicon Valley and professor at Ohlone College. He attended Leigh High School, where he participated in multiple honor bands throughout Northern and Southern California, placing in the top 4 at All-State each year.

Currently, Davis is attending Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge, Louisiana getting his bachelors in Music Education. He is a student of Dr. Jospeh Skillen, Galante Professor of Tuba and Euphonium at LSU. Most recently, he was a member of the LSU Wind Ensemble and has participated in multiple LSU Ensembles, including the LSU Symphonic Band, LSU Symphonic Winds, LSU Symphony Orchestra, and the LSU Lab Band.

In his solo career, Davis has performed throughout California and in different parts of the country, including Louisiana, Texas, Arkansas, and New York. He has placed in the final round for both the LSU Concerto Competition and the Delta Symphony Concerto Competition. In 2013, he was the featured soloist with the Leigh High School Wind Ensemble during their tour of New York City.

He has also found sucess in the chamber music field, playing third tuba in the quartet ""Tubaphonix"", which won 1st prize at the South Central Tuba-Euphonium Association Chamber Music Compeition in 2015. Currently, he plays 4th tuba in the LSU Tuba-Euph Octet.

Davis currently serves as President of the National Association for Music Education-LSU Chapter as well as the President of the International Tuba-Euphonium Association- LSU Chapter.
