Alexandra Hartlein
Alexandra Hartlein just completed her freshman year at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign where she studies with Jonathan Keeble. Previously, she has studied with Julia Bogorad-Kogan and Immanuel Davis. Alexandra has diverse experience in large ensembles, including the University of Illinois Symphony Orchestra, the Brevard Concert Orchestra, the Brevard Symphonic Winds, the University of Minnesota Symphonic Band (in the 2014-2015 school year), the University of Minnesota Honor Band and the Greater Twin Cities Youth Symphonies. As a soloist, she has placed first and second in the Laudie Porter flute competition and been a finalist in the GTCYS concerto competition. Furthermore, she has extensive experience in chamber music. As a member of the Rustling Winds Quintet, she placed second in the Saint Paul Chamber Orchestra Youth Chamber Music Competition and received the Outstanding Wind Ensemble Award. She was also selected to play in the Saint Paul Chamber Orchestra Chamber Music Institute where she performed in a woodwind quintet with clarinetist Jonathan Cohen. At the University of Illinois, Alexandra is a James Scholar in the College of Fine and Applied Arts.
