William Adams, age 19, is from Oakland, California, and has studied flute since age eight. Additionally, he sang with the Piedmont East Bay Children’s Choir (PEBCC) for eleven years. As a flutist, William played with the Berkeley Youth Orchestra for three years and in 2010 was a winner of their concerto competition. In 2012, he placed third in the solo division at the US Open Music Competition, and performed in the Junior Bach Festivals in 2012 and 2013. William was a member of the Young People’s Symphony Orchestra for three years and in 2014 was a winner of their concerto competition. In 2015, he placed second in the Youth Vocal Solo Competition during the Golden Gate International Children’s and Youth Choral Festival hosted by PEBCC. As a composer, William has written an original composition for treble voices that was premiered in 2014 by PEBCC. William’s voice teachers have included Theresa Cardinale and Audrew Howitt. His flute teachers have included Diane Clymer, Maria Tamburrino, and Esther Landau, and he has played in a master class with Nina Perlove. William currently studies flute performance with Alexa Still at the Oberlin Conservatory of Music. |
