Raised
in Rochester, New York, soprano Tess Klibanoff is currently pursuing her
Bachelor of Music degree in vocal performance at the Oberlin Conservatory of
Music under the instruction of Daune Mahy. Tess played the role of Adina in
Donizetti's L'elisir d'amore in Oberlin in Italy's Site-Specific Opera
productions. In the winter of 2015, Tess took part in Oberlin Opera Theater's
production of Strawberry Fields, by James Torke, playing the role of Girl.
Tess held residency as a young artist with Songfest, where she was named a
prestigious Schubert Fellow and worked with world-renowned pianist Alan
Smith, composers John Musto and Lucy Shelton, as well as sopranos Lisa Saffer
and Audrey Luna. Tess played Frasquinella in La PĆ©richole by Jacques
Offenbach at the Franco-American Vocal Academy. There, she worked with famed
composer Isabelle Aboulker. Tess was also in Oberlin Opera Theater's
production of Die Fledermaus. This summer Tess will sing Zerlina in New York
Lyric Opera's production of Don Giovanni. She will also cover Mariya in
Tchaikovsky's Mazeppa at Russian Opera Workshop in Philadelphia. As a recitalist, Tess has performed the entirety of Debussy's “Ariettes OubliĆ©es” and Jake Heggie's "Natural Selection" at Oberlin Conservatory in Ohio, in addition to many other recitals featuring varied works. Tess performed for many years in the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra's annual Holiday Pops Concert as a soprano I in the chorus, under conductor Jeff Tyzik. |
