Pendo’s
musical interest started early in his infancy as he grew up in an environment
where the arts are embraced. He started taking formal violin lessons from
Elizabeth Rennie in 2009 and later became a pupil of Irene Tsoniff. In 2013 Pendo was a semi-finalist in the Johannesburg based Phillip H Moore music competition. In 2014 Pendo was honoured to play for the late Dr Myles Munroe at the Annual EPL Memorial lecture in Phokeng. Pendo was a featured soloist at the Sounds of Children Music Festival accompanied by the Johannesburg Festival Orchestra, conducted by Richard Cock. In 2015 he played as soloist with the Paris-based Alma Chamber Orchestra in a school concert in Durban. Pendo performed as a featured soloist with the Rand Symphony Orchestra and the Johannesburg Symphony Orchestra as part of their respective Youth Concerto Festivals. In 2015 he was a finalist in the Philip H Moore Competition and the Hubert van der Spuy Competitions in South Africa. He was also awarded the title Best Junior String Player in the Johannesburg SASMT Festival. |
