Maria Kolesnyk


Maria Kolesnyk, nineteen-year-old Ukrainian pianist who was born in Chernihiv, Ukraine, began her music studies in piano at age of 5. While studying piano at middle school and high school in Ukraine, she won numerous local, regional and national competitions. Following graduation from Kiev Music High School (Ukraine) in 2013, she moved to the United States to get her bachelor degree in piano performance at the UNLV under guidance of Mykola Suk.

In 2014 she has been named the winner in the Nevada MTNA Competition ‘’Senior Performance’’. Also, she has been granted a full scholarship at International Keyboard Institute & Festival in Summer 2014. The same year, Maria, for the second year in a row, became a winner of the Gateway Arts Foundation Scholarship Award. While taking part in numerous masterclasses, she worked with internationally renowned musicians such as Jerome Lowenthal (USA), Emanuel Krasovsky (Israel), Vadim Rudenko (Russia), Nina Tichman (Germany), Jerome Rose (USA), among many others. As a part of 2015 MTNA National Conference, Maria was chosen to play for Lang Lang's masterclass, also she took a part of flute masterclass given by Sir Galway.

As a soloist, Maria performed Gershwin's Rhapsody in Blue with the Henderson Symphony in February 2015. Previously, she performed Liszt’s Concerto no.1 with Symphony Orchestra “Philharmonia”, Chernihiv; she also played Concerto no.21 by Mozart and Rapsodia Sinfonica for Piano and Orchestra by Joaquin Turina.

Among most recent achievements are a full scholarship at the International Keyboard Institute and Festival in New York (July 2016), acceptance and scholarship at the Vianden Chamber Festival in Luxembourg (August 2016), as well as engagement in solo performance with symphony orchestra in Ukraine (July 2016).
