Liu, age 13, is a soprano and pianist.
She was born in San Diego, CA.
Maggie expressed strong interest in music at a young age and started
taking piano lessons at 4 and a half years old. She has been learning piano
for over 8 years. When she was 11,
Maggie began to study singing. She
loves opera, classical music, & musicals. Maggie has participated in many recitals, festivals, and competitions for piano. She enjoys performing for others. After about one year of vocal study, Maggie began to sing in public. She performs locally for senior residents, at community library recitals, & for community charity concerts. Below are some highlighted activities Maggie participated in. • In June 2015, Maggie won First Place and the Judges' Distinction Award for American Protégé International Vocal Competition 2015. She is going to perform at Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall in New York City in December 19, 2015. • In May 2015, Maggie was selected to sing "O mio babbino caro" in the 2nd American Chinese Youth Art Festival in San Diego, CA. • Maggie sang Opera aria "Tu che di gel sei cinta", from Puccini's Opera "Turandot" at the International Christmas Festival at Balboa Park December Nights in San Diego on December 4, 2015. • Maggie performed opera aria "Un bel di vedremo" from Madama Butterfly with Inland Valley Youth Symphony on December 14, 2015. • In March 2014, as a winner of American Protégé International Competition of Romantic Music 2013, Maggie performed a Chopin piano etude at Carnegie Hall in New York City. Maggie likes math. She participates in weekly MathCounts activities. She is a member of her school's math club. |
