Daniel Rim
Daniel Rim is 17 and started playing the violin at six years old. In New York, he studied with Yu Jeong Lee and Elizabeth Chang, and currently studies at the violin with Pasha Tseitlin. He also plays in the San Diego Youth Symphony as an assistant principal.
In 2012 Daniel was a finalist in the American Protégé Concerto Competition and performed in the Kaufman Center, and also won the 2012 Island Chamber Symphony Concerto Festival Competition. In 2013 he was a finalist in the Long Island Conservatory International Music Competition. He has also won 1st place in the 2015 VOCE State Competition for chamber, Honorable Mention in the 2015 Goodlin Competition, 3rd place in the 2016 MTAC Concerto Competition and VOCE Competition, 1st place in the regional 2016 VOCE chamber competition, and the Brigitte Feucht Memorial Award in the 2016 La Jolla Symphony Young Artists Competition.
Daniel has participated in the New York Youth Symphony Chamber Division, Laus Chamber Festival, SDYS International Youth Symphony, and had the honor of performing as concertmaster of the Idyllwild Chamberfest Orchestra at Disney Hall in Los Angeles last summer. He was also concertmaster of Yorktown High School Orchestra and is currently concertmaster at Torrey Pines High School Advanced Orchestra.
Daniel is now a junior at Torrey Pines High School. He has two brothers who play in a string trio with him.
