Qden Blaauw



Qden (11) started playing piano three years ago under the guidance of Shane Goodall at the Hugo Lambrechts Music Centre, Cape Town, South Africa.  He has performed in various concerts and competitions.  In 2013, he was enlisted on the University of South Africa (UNISA) role of honor. He is a recipient of the national Hennie Joubert award and has been a category winner numerous times at Cape Town Eisteddfods. 

Qden was one of 12 young musicians selected to perform as a soloist with the orchestra at the 2015 National Concerto Festival. He was a semi-finalist for the Lang Lang international piano youth camp. He has received master classes from world renowned pianists including Gloria Campaner and Luis Magalhaes. 

Qden is a keen composer. He has mostly composed classical piano pieces, but since he started playing violin last year, he has also composed violin sonatas. He has played some of his piano compositions on a local radio station and one piece was performed at a piano concert in Australia. He is currently composing his first symphony. 

Qden also enjoys playing cricket, chess and building electrical circuits.
