Nya Y. Angel
Nya Angel is a 15-year old violinist who lives in New York City. She began her violin studies at age 3.75 and currently studies with Elizabeth Faidley of the Manhattan School of Music. Nya's passion for music has led her to pursue instrumental studies at Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School of Music & Art and Performing Arts, where she is current a sophomore and plays with the Senior Orchestra. Nya was also the concertmaster of Mark Twain Middle School's 6th and 8th Grade String Orchestra. She formerly has held
similar roles for the New York InterSchools Orchestra (ISO) and has been the concertmaster of the Philadelphia International Music Festival. In 2016, she was a winner of the National Young Maestro Competition and was also accepted in the National Honors Performance Series. In November 2017, Nya won third place in the G. Gershwin International Music Competition. Nya has also been a prize winner and finalist in various competitions, including the Great Composers Competition Series, Crescendo Competition, the Prima Competition, the Forte Competition, and more. Nya has performed in many prestigious venues, including Carnegie's Weill Recital Hall, Lincoln Center's Alice Tully Hall and Symphony Space.
