Maia Schmidt is seventeen years old and is a student in the studio of Elizabeth Faidley at the Manhattan School of Music where she attends Precollege. Maia has had solo performances at Hunter College, Manhattan School of Music, and Riverside Church in New York City. Maia has performed in recitals at Weill Recital and Merkin Concert Halls as well as Lincoln Center’s Bruno Walter Auditorium. Her solo debut with orchestra was in February 2014 with the Manhattan String Orchestra. Most recently, as a winner of the Young Concert Artists Series, she performed a solo recital at the 92nd Street Y in Manhattan. Maia has also performed in masterclasses with Katie Lansdale, Kurt Nikkanen, Anna Rabinova, Tao Chang Yu and Ray Chen. Maia has won awards as a soloist, including the NLPA concerto competition, Vivo International Music Competition, Rondo Vanguard Music Competition, East Coast International Competition, the NLPA Showcase competition and the American Protégé Concerto Competition.
