Dominic Pang


Dominic Pang, 12, pianist and organist, is a seventh grader from San Jose. He began his study of piano at age five and currently studies with Dr. William Wellborn in San Francisco. He has also studied organ and composition since April 2015 with Dr. Angela Kraft Cross.
Dominic is a regular prize winner at the Competition for Young Pianists sponsored by the Chopin Foundation, the Auburn Symphony Young Artist Competition, and also at various festivals sponsored by American Protégé, American Fine Arts Festival, International Golden Key Music Festival, and American Association for the Development of the Gifted and Talented, which culminated in three performances at Carnegie Hall at ages 8, 9 and 10. For the current and past three years he has performed as a pianist at the Junior Bach Festival of Berkeley. In February 2015, he performed the third movement of the Beethoven Piano Concerto no. 1 with the Auburn Symphony. He was the silver medalist of the 2015 Seattle International Piano Competition, 10-13 age group. Dominic is the 2016 district winner of the California Association of Professional Music Teachers' Contemporary Music Competition. On organ, Dominic has been special guest organist at several Peninsula churches, as well as at the Members' Recital of the Peninsula Chapter of the American Guild of Organists. Dominic performed his debut organ solo recital in November 2015.
Dominic is in the Johns Hopkins Center for Talented Youth academically gifted program and received high honors in their talent search program in 2012 and 2015. He is a member of the American Mensa. In his free time, Dominic enjoys playing chess, taking long hikes, and training his miniature pinscher as a service dog.
