13-year-old Allison Lie is an eighth grader in Naperville, Illinois, and is a student of Sueanne Metz. She has been a prizewinner of various competitions. In 2015, she was awarded as a winner of the Chopin Youth Piano Competition in Milwaukee, WI, and the Enkor Competition in Germany. In 2014, she was a winner of the American Protege International Competition of Romantic Music, and performed at the Carnegie Hall for the winners’ concert. Her other achievements include prizes from the Memorial Contest of the Illinois Music Association, the 2014 U.S. New Star Piano Competition, the Eleventh (Junior Division) and Twelfth (had to be in the Senior Division because she had won first place in the Junior Division) Annual Sejong Music Competition, the Northwest Suburban Music Teachers Association music competition, and the North Shore Contest, in which as a first place winner she played on the Horowitz piano for the winners’ recital. In addition, she attended the International Institute of Young Musicians in Kansas in summer 2014 where she took master classes from Dr. Steven Spooner, Dr. Scott McBride Smith and Dr. Jack Winerock. She also has taken master classes from Mr. Cosmo Buono and Mr. Gerardo Teissonniere. In school, Allison is an avid reader and enjoys writing fictions and mathematics. She also loves the rigor of long distance swimming and running.
